So many new things are on the horizon, I'm excited and terrified. Life is so full of opportunities, and I say grab em! Run with it, try it out and see if it works for you. Right now, as I sit here I'm stirring over an opportunity that I dived into head first and now I have no choice but to sit back and see what happens. I'm planning to post on Tuesday and let you all in on the scoop!
I have a few big shows coming up this summer that are very exciting. The first being the Guelph Art on the Street Festival. I did this show in 2002, my first art festival ever... and of course in my hometown. I love Guelph, and I love doing this show because I get to see all my old friends and of course my family. I haven't done this show in the last four years as it usually conflicts with other shows in Toronto, but this year I made it a priority and I couldn't be happier. Join me on July 13th, 10am-5pm for art in Guelph! The historic downtown Guelph is filled with beautiful little shops and cafes, so its a win win for visitors. Hope to see you there!
As for my other shows... I'll keep you posted, dates are being confirmed and art supplies are arriving at my door.

Don't forget to stop in for the one day only art show & sale at #85 The Kingsway, Toronto 10am-4pm. Its happening this Saturday, April 6th!

I have some new work and I've been playing around with more paint these past few weeks so I can't wait to show it off and get some feedback.
As I look around my studio, I'm realizing that square is new favorite size... 9x38" was the size of fall 2012 and early winter 2013.... 18x18" and 20x20" is the size of winter/spring 2013. So measure up your walls and come out for this great event!
See you there.

Spring? Almost... I feel it just around the corner, crocuses, tulips, muddy yards... I love it all. This spring is bringing about some new growth for myself as well, I've started an arts collective with four other talented women and we'll be launching our first group show in May! Femme Five Art Collective consists of Suzanne Ernst, Aleks Rdest, Sarah Hillock, Ann Shier and myself. More will be posted on this group and our show soon.
Up next, I'll be participating in a one day show, the Kingsway-Lambton 16th Annual Fundraiser Show on Saturday, April 6th 10am-4pm. Its a great one day event with thirty-two painters, photographers, sculptures and other wonderful artists. This year is teaming with new shows, new travels and new directions. Can't wait to share all of it with you!

Here is a little sneak peek on what's new at the Artist Project this year....  I have some 9x38's (my new favourite size), a new 18x18 and plenty of small pieces to check out. I also have my favourite piece from 2012... a piece I've considered keeping as I love it so much... come out and see it for yourself!

This winter has not provided a ton a snow-scape opportunities, but neither did last winter, I just happened to be driving from Collingwood to Cannington on the snowiest day of the year which provided me ample photo-taking opportunity. This year, not so lucky, but I did attend a new year's lunch at one of the nicest properties around, Hedgerow Farm. Neil and Carolyn Turnbull have done to their property what most of us only dream of, they slowly built it up to a paradise I can not begin to describe.
New Years day was beautiful, sunny and crisp. As the sun dropped down, I walked through rows of trees, sculptural gardens, trickling streams and enjoyed the fading glow of light. You can be sure to see some of these images coming to life in my studio over the next couple months.

Empty boards awaiting photo prints, paint and beeswax... The Artist Project preparations are well under way as the show is just over two weeks away. As the mini landscapes were such a hit at the One of a Kind Show, I'm bringing them back for the AP show and am excited to be dipping into some of my latest photo collections... lots of trees, fog and snow.
If you're able to come out on Feb 21st for opening night, its a lot of fun and is a great chance to get first dibs on the work you love. The next three days will be packed and the show will be in full swing. I'm at booth 738 and my husband Dave Marshak is showing directly across from me (yay!), so come visit us both!

Thank you ART BOMB for hosting my piece, Crabapple Reaching this past week in your art auction! Art Bomb hosts one Canadian artist's work every day in their auction. This a great place to find new art and artists! My work has only graced their website once so far, but after a successful first show and sale, we will definitely be working together in the future. Stay tuned for the next one!
Just a heads up, the Artist Project is right around the corner, so if you're not on my mailing list, be sure to check out the details on my events page. I'm working on some new pieces for the show and can't wait for their reveal, so hopefully I see you there!

The One of a Kind Show has wrapped up and my studio is finally getting back in order, what a whirlwind of a month. The OOAK show is always just as amazing as it is exhausting! Currently I am working on a number of commissions and will be completing them over the next few weeks, which is always fun and it gives me time to brainstorm about the next body of work.
Next up, the Artist Project beginning February 21st at the Better Living Centre. Its my favourite show of the year so I hope you can all make it out! Until then, I'll be puttering around the studio, playing with new ideas and creating new work. If you have any questions, commission inquiries, or would like to come up to Cannington  for a studio visit (1.5hrs north-east of Toronto), don't hesitate to contact me.

Have a happy holiday!
