If you were one of the wonderful folks who came out last weekend to see the show Artisans at the Distillery, I thank you! It was a great show with a fantastic turnout. Yes, it was a scorcher of a weekend, but my booth was facing north so at least I was shaded. The Distillery also offered a delicous variety of foods and snacks so even though I packed my lunch each day, I didn’t touch it till dinner.

There were about 30 vendors spread throughout the historical brick streets of the Distillery over the entire long weekend. It was a great chance to chat with other artists, gallery owners, art collectors and more. Festivals like these always provide great opportunities to find out about other shows, art spaces and show ideas from other artists in similar and different fields. I also found it wonderful to see a few other artists working their booths with a baby in their arms or toddler at their feet. Ahh… it can be done!

For those of you who haven’t been to my last few shows, you may not have seen my photo-encasutic works. I had been experiementing with encaustics over the past couple of years very slowly and tenderly, but decided to dive in this year as its much less toxic to work with than resin… I have also been surprized at how much I am loving this new medium, and how its allowing me to work with my imagery the way I always envisioned. Next up…. a show at Arta Gallery starting August 17 and the Queen West Art CrawSeptember 16-18th. I’ll be posting more details soon…
