Everything is coming along nicely, and with less than two weeks until the Open Studio and Gallery Launch, I'm relatively calm.... I also happen to be doing a month-long raw food challenge so most of my thoughts are consumed by fresh baked bread, brie and bacon. Setting up for the show is a nice distraction from food cravings and the food cravings are a nice distraction from the stress of setting up for the show!! Who knew it would work out so nicely.
Today I finished up my largest piece for the show so that feels great. I also have a new series of small diptychs which are so fun. I've got a couple commissions to finish up this week as well, so I'm busy busy. My goal is to have the majority of my work done by Wednesday so I can spend the day painting and prepping the studio and gallery.... so exciting!!! I've built some rustic shelving for the walls and re-pourposed an old door for a cash counter. Ahhh... just another day!

I'm so grateful to Durham Tourism who are promoting my new art space, they have sent out my info to over 12 thousand people so far and my website getting all kinds of attention. So, thank-you!
Here is a little piece they put in their newsletter.

As you may have noticed, I recently changed up my website. This is going to allow me to update more frequently so you can see what new pieces I've created as soon as they are done. So, be sure to frequent 2012's page! I have a new stack of prints, wax and wood panels that I can't wait to dive into... you should be seeing updates in no time!  You can also come out and see them in person on May 26th for my Open Studio!!!

Plugging away on new work, setting up the studio and getting the gallery ready for its doors to open next month is keeping me busy!! You can pencil in the First Annual Open Studio for Saturday, May 26th noon until 6pm.
I've been speaking with other local business owners and artists and everyone is really excited to have a gallery in town, talk of a Gallery Galavant for Brock Township is underway! If you're an artist looking to submit work for consideration, the gallery will have its website up and running with submission guidelines soon!

Ahhh... at home once again, with a good nights sleep and home made breakfast in my belly. The past five days have been an incredible blur. First and foremost, my son is turning out to be quite the show baby and I can't wait for him to be my little helper in shows to come. Five days and barely a peep, except of course the jubilant screams. It was also wonderful to be showing directly across from my husband, something we haven't done before and something I will definitely request from now on. It was wonderful being able to help eachother set up, watch each other's booths, and help with lunch runs etc.
Opening night brought out a great crowd with lots of interested art enthusiasts. Friday through to Sunday has all blurred into one and was equally great for attendance, conversation and sales. Thankyou to all who came out to this show!!! If  there is any piece you're still thinking about, shoot me an email, I have a few pieces left and plan to be bringing them to another gallery later this month.
With yet another Artist Project complete, my first show of 2012, I'm looking forward the rest of the year and of course for next year's AP show. For the next couple of months though, I'll be setting up the new studio space and working towards an upcoming one day show in Toronto as as well as my First Annual Open Studio Event which will be held in May... deatails to follow.

Guess who's work made TORNOTO LIFE's 30 Must See Pieces from the Artist Project! Crabapple was a hit at the show and I'm so excited it made Toronto Life's top 30 list. Not only did it sell at the show, but it has inspired a body of work for an upcoming solo show this summer.... details to follow!

As many of you already know, I often have a number of small pieces starting at $50 for quick and easy gift giving or for filling that small space in your home that’s just begging for something special. The smallest I offer is my Doors + Window Series at 3×5″. They can be hung individually and look great in sets as well. I’m only bringing 40pcs with me the Artist Project so make sure you get there and have first dibs, they tend to go fast. This latest collection will include much from rural Ontario as well as New Brunswick and NovaScotia.

I’ve moved studios and I couldn’t be happier! This new space is absolutely beautiful and can’t wait to really get in there, set it up as needed and invite you all to see it. There are two spaces; a smaller from room flooded with light from floor to ceiling windows which I plan to open a gallery in and large back room that is my working studio. With the Artist Project coming next week, I haven’t had the chance to get things set up and organized, but my spring project will be just that.

Keep your eyes and ears open for my studio and gallery launch party which is scheduled to happen in May. And don’t be shy to come and check it out in the mean time, just drop me an email.

For preview’s sake, here are a couple pics of the gallery entrance….
